Episode 246: Elements of Success (That You MUST Do)


Success is a big word and its meaning is different for everyone. However, there are elements that you need to do in order to achieve success. Whether it’s earning a lot of money or attaining a position in a company, these elements remain constant.

In this episode, Adam Stott shares the elements of success and why you needed in order to create more success. Adams also shares the live events they have successfully completed in the last month.

Adam Stott:

Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Business Grow Secrets really excited to have you here. I’m currently just driving home. After a fantastic day with my team. We’re all back in from the bank holiday. Everybody’s raring to go, everybody’s nice and rested. Raring to go. I’m looking forward to what’s going to be a very busy month in the month of June. We got lots of things lined up so forth, share a couple of those things with you.

And then I’m going to share a couple of lessons from the coaching calls that I’ve had today. Which hopefully can add some great value, give you some business secrets to add to your list. If you listen to podcasts, you surely got loads by now. And hopefully you’re implementing everything that we speak about. Because if you are, there’s no doubt you’re going to be becoming a better business owner. 

So what have we got lined up, we’ve got some amazing cool things coming up. First of all, one of the great things about the month of May, is that we went back and we did one of our live preview free events and was very, very busy. We had a room for 80 people because we weren’t sure what the temperature was going to be coming back after the pandemic and everything and see whether people want to be doing live events or just virtual.

So to room for 80. By half past nine, we had 114 people there. And we not only had filled away seats, but we had to bring in a ton more seats as well. Those seats, not all of them could see the projector screen. Not all of them could see what we were talking about, we had a very fun and entertaining day. But the bigger problem was that by 11 o’clock, we had almost 150 people there. We had lots of people waiting in the hallways hoping to be able to get into some of the sessions. I’m pleased to say that everybody that attended the event did get to see some of the sessions during the day. So we did get to meet 150 business owners looking to grow their businesses and spend some time with them got to none. 

It was amazing. Actually, I must say I don’t think there’s anything as good as live events. I’ve done all the different training all over the different world all over the world that you can do. Lots of virtual training. Yeah, it’s handy. It can be good to be able to jump on your laptop, be able to get content and information. Take courses and coaching and Masterminds online. It’s awesome.

There’s nothing quite like being in a room full of people, both for the person holding the event. And of course, the person attending the event. It’s just to be around other business owners to be able to have those networking opportunities. Those opportunities to go and meet people in person and see people if I create that connection. Get to know them. It’s just something that I think I’ve really, I’ve really enjoyed.

And something that I missed, we weren’t doing, we still weren’t doing our live events during obviously the couple of years that just passed, but we weren’t doing the free events. We were doing them online. So it was great to get out and do one of those free events that have an absolute massive demand and meet a ton of clients. So we got over 30 people working with us from that particular event. 

They’re looking forward to getting started or some of them have started already. And good luck to every single one of them. I’ve got no doubt we’ve found some chronic success stories in that room. And the good news is we’ve got two more of these events coming up. We’ve got one coming up in Birmingham, which is an awesome place. We’ve got some of our very successful clients from Birmingham, and people like Ken we’ve helped scale his business to in excess of eight figures.

So, over 10 million pounds a year. I’ve got so many people like that who have come from, have done a great, great job and really succeeded at high level and certainly the Birmingham based business owners are super motivated and ready to rock and roll. And we’ve got hundreds of success stories. So looking forward to running another one of these free events in Birmingham. In addition to that, we’ll be running another one in London. Those are coming up on the 24th and 25th of June. I believe you can go over to the website, bigbusinessevents.co.uk and you can find that and get yourself registered for one of these events.

You can come and visit us there because we’ve got some great stuff, a chance to meet in person, we listen to a podcast for a long time and we’ve not met in person, why not? It’s time we met in person, pharma got to know you and started to be able to give you some direct advice, rather than listening from afar. And this is a great opportunity where you come and meet me and the team for free, they’re both coming up, also got virtual events on as well. So doing virtual events and live events is a hybrid of both, which is going to be cold. We’ve got those coming out.

So that’s been really great in May, that we were able to do that. And that set us off to do a ton more events in June. So I’m excited about those events coming up too. 

So lots of good stuff is happening there. As well as actually my team are working really, really hard. We’ve brought some new people onto the team. But some new people in our marketing team got lots of new designs coming out, lots of new funnels, launching, and lots of stuff happening. So exciting times, I’ve got to say I’m at a very nice point in motivation, myself, personally, really loving what we’re doing right now. And all the different things we’re doing. It’s been really, really awesome stuff. So that’s good.

I’ve been doing some coaching today, working with some of the gold circle clients. And one of the things I wanted to talk about today, because if there’s anything, there’s a few elements to hard work, there’s a few elements to success, should I say that are essential, and I just gave one of them away. And the absolute number one, the given.

So make the given, you know, it’s like not even the expected not even to be taught. Just this is the given if you want to be more successful, if you want to make more money, if you want to have more of the things that you want in life, if you want to get more freedom, if you want to get more results, you gotta work hard. I think that is the fundamental, when I look at all my uber successful clients, the clients do millions in revenue, all of them have got that work ethic running through their veins.

So I think that’s really, really important. And what I’ve noticed in the marketplace, as some of you might have noticed this too, and especially from a recruitment standpoint, actually, and I talked about from a recruitment standpoint, so it doesn’t necessarily come down to business owners per se. But from a recruitment. 

No, it seems like the pandemic and all these things that have gone on over the past couple of years, has got people to become a little bit lazy. I think that it hasn’t affected the dreams that people have the desires they have. But it has gotten them used to a slightly different lifestyle, of maybe chilling out a little bit more, maybe spending a bit more time at home, maybe not going the extra mile, maybe not traveling out, maybe shying away from building new relationships and meeting new people and doing all the things that contribute towards your success. 

So I wanted to call that out. Because I think that’s really, really important, especially as we are moving back into an economy. And obviously, who knows what the future holds. But certainly in the short term, you’ve got a big opportunity, you got a big opportunity to be going out there and making things happen. Obviously, in the longer term, we will know that you know, who knows what will happen, of course, but you know, in the short term that we find ourselves in, there is a big opportunity for entrepreneurs out there right now to go out and win new business to make things happen. And I think we all have to be taking a look at what we’re doing and asking ourselves a question. 

Are we working hard on ourselves? And one of the things that’s really funny, I went out for dinner with my mom when my oldest friends met him at 11. When we were both in the same secondary school class, I don’t think he listened to the podcast. He should be done. All right. I’m not sure maybe and tell me if I’m wrong. James, which is James, went out for dinner with him the other day and went out for an hour with another one of my pals, Phil. And he said to me, Adam, I drove past her office the other day with my girlfriend and she pointed out your logo in the office because we went out for some lunch I said all right. Okay, cool. And she said it was a bank holiday.

And she said I wonder if Adams is working and he said I guarantee you. I absolutely guarantee you Adam will be in there. He will be working. Yeah, he’s fine as what he said to her and I went out for dinner with him the following day. And he was absolutely right. You know, bank holiday. 

I think a lot of people are slightly controversial, perhaps. But a lot of people think Bank Holiday jolly. There’s loads of time off this. Forget about the business. It’s my time to chill. It’s my time to relax. Well, yes, it is. But it’s also your time, if you want more success, to cultivate more success, and actually get a competitive advantage. Oh, yeah. I was in there working on strategy. I was there working on designing funnels, I was there, doing all the things that I know I need to do to create more success. Right. And that’s what success takes.

Sometimes it takes a bit of hard work, and it takes a bit of sacrifice. Yes, I could have been out of my powers. Yes, I’ve gotta be, you know, doing something that, you know, maybe in the gym, again, I’m not discounting that, yeah, you got to get on your fitness. But I decided that I was going to go in. I was going to work hard, because working hard is what makes a difference. Actually saying to yourself, you know, what, if I have to make a sacrifice in order to create more success in my life, I’m gonna do it. 

I’ve been doing that for many, many, many years. In fact, throughout my whole career, whilst others were out playing football, I was working on Saturdays and Sundays, you know, and people don’t realize that they forget that often. And I think it’s just something worth mentioning. Because I think, especially in the marketplace that exists today.

So many people aren’t necessarily putting the shift in, and certainly not a you as the listener, maybe you are, maybe you aren’t, but always sort of take a check and say, hey, I work into my capacity, am I working as hard as I can, because what you practice in private is what you get rewarded for in public. So putting the shift in putting the effort in, and whilst others are partying, those of you that are working hard, you are going to be able to play much harder in the long run, if that’s what you want. And then it just becomes a habit, right? 

So as you create more success, you’d be like, “hey, this is what I want to do, I’d rather be doing nothing else than actually developing and growing.” And that’s kind of what my mindsets like. And that’s what I enjoy doing.

So number one, work hard number two sacrifice, which we’ve already said, you got to look at, are there sacrifices that you’re making for a better long term future thing that’s really, really important are the sacrifices you’re making, to create more wealth to create more freedom long term, to be able to take the type of holidays that you want to be able to do the things that you want to be able to go anywhere to get your freedom? What sacrifices are you making?

You know, and I actually one of the things that we always do, because I understand the power of coaching, is we’re always having a very recently bought 25,000 pound coaching program for one of our team members. And I was overhearing, enlisting, and the first thing that this particular culture was training for, my team said that the first thing I want you to do is you’re in this program, you pay 25,000 for it. 

First thing I want you to do, instead of going home tonight, switch Netflix on, I want you to say, where can I find that extra hour and a half a day to actually apply the things that I’m learning here. And I think that’s really, really important. So you’ve got to look at what little sacrifices that you can make. So you can get more long term success. And that’s really, really important.

So number three, if you want more success in your life, you’ve got to take more action. What is it that you’ve been sitting on that you know, that you’ve got to do, you’ve probably heard this before. But let me tell you, one muscle that you want to get in, in your mind is action taking, the more that you can get centered around action taking, the better results that you’re gonna get every single time you take an action, you open a new door, when you open a new door, you create a new lock result, you create a new relationship, you create new growth, you’ve got to look at what actions can you be taking. 

And the next one, number four is risk. If you want to be a millionaire, if you want to be more successful, if you want to have your first six figure months, your first six figure years, whatever level you’re at, you have to get more comfortable with risk. You have to understand that investing in yourself is important. You understand that investing in your business is important. Investing in marketing is important. You have to understand that not every single thing you’re going to do is going to be perfectly successful, you’re going to have the odd thing that doesn’t work out, right, you got to get comfortable with that, which is number six is the occasional failure. Right? 

Not everything you do is going to be successful, but you’ve got to make sure that you don’t let that deter you and you actually keep pushing forward. Keep taking those actions. Keep taking those risks, because let me tell you, when you start becoming a little bit more risk tolerant, you might take 10 risks, five of them might fail but a five that when they’re going to be big wins for you, you’re gonna get more growth. So I think there’s just a few things there for you to look at.

So maybe self check and self analyze. And really, you know, go back to number one, put the shift in, work harder, make sure that you go for it, you’re going to create more results.
